Today, in a gorgeous Google doodle, Google celebrates the birthday of the late legendary Hollywood costume designer Edith Head. Edith was a remarkable woman with the distinction of being the costume designer with the most Oscar wins for a total of eight. She was well educated-with degrees in French and Romance languages from Berkeley and Stanford, but had little art instruction and secured her first design job by using someone else’s sketches. She was very popular with actresses as she in a move that was unconventional at the time, consulted with them extensively on their looks. Active between 1927-1981 she is most famous for her work in the “Golden Age” of cinema the 1940’s and 1950’s. Edith had an instantly recognizable personal signature look of tailored suits, thick black bangs, and round dark glasses. #edithhead #designer #costumes #movies #moviestar #losangeles #hollywood #art #cinema
