For the Love of Marilyn-a wee post

Some have beauty and some people have self-doubt. And then there is Marilyn. Who naturally and enigmatically had equal proportions of both. Her screen beauty is something hard to define, it goes beyond physical beauty. Her acting was revealing and luminous even when it was too calculated. The Misfits, her last completed film showed her in peak form where her neurosis, physical beauty and her devotion to becoming better at her craft coalesced. A few weeks after the 48th anniversary of her death we can still marvel at the contradiction in ourselves and in Marilyn…of beauty and self-doubt. A combination that can be beautiful in and of itself, if it weren’t so tragically implosive.
